Martin & Co. Vega Nickel Wound 5-String Banjo Strings

These have been available on shelves as long as I can remember.  The sound is truly “vintage” because it’s the same set many of the popular pioneers of bluegrass banjo used back when landmark recordings were being made.  So it’s the sound many of us “hear in our mind” when we think of banjo.  A lot of that tone comes from the tin plated steel core and the nickel winding on the fourth.  Goodness, they sound good.
